Letters regarding hostilities with Americans, 1805 / by Félix María Calleja del Rey.

Two letters from Calleja del Rey to the Viceroy José de Iturrigaray and a copy of letter by Simón de Herrera to Calleja del Rey. Calleja's letter, dated August 20, 1805, reports on the raid on Candela by Mescalero Indians and suggests that Anglo-Americans may have instigated the attack. The second letter, dated September 20, 1805, reports on the Crown's negotiations with James Monroe regarding boundary disputes. Simon de Herrera's letter, dated August 13 1805, describes hostilities with Anglo-Americans at Nachitochis (Nacogdoches, Texas).
